Summary
This project focused on inclusion, diversity, and professional development in early education, offering staff international training in Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and other contemporary approaches. It promoted knowledge-sharing across early childhood centres through a Train-the-Trainer model, enriching the learning experiences of both educators and children.
"This training gave me new tools to see each child as capable, curious, and unique. Bringing this back to my team and watching the change unfold in our centres has been deeply rewarding.''

- Inclusion and diversity in early years education.
Target group(s)
Early years educators (20); children aged 0–3 years across three childcare centres.
Methodologies used
The project employed hands-on, child-centred approaches inspired by Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and contemporary pedagogy. Educators participated in immersive training and later applied their learning through workshops, peer mentoring, and classroom practice. The Train-the-Trainer model ensured that all staff - not just those who took part in mobility activities - benefited from the experience. Emphasis was placed on real-life application, continuous feedback, and the integration of cultural diversity and inclusive practices into early years learning environments.
Innovation environment
The learning environment fostered innovation through a structured culture of knowledge-sharing and a strong commitment to staff development. Educators returning from training led practical demonstrations, helping to transform daily classroom practices. Centres embraced changes such as the use of open-ended materials, child-led learning, inclusive planning, and peer feedback loops. A whole-centre approach ensured consistency, adaptability, and a nurturing atmosphere that encouraged exploration and creativity among both staff and children.
Teachers’ role
Educators became catalysts for change by applying their learning and mentoring colleagues. Their role shifted from content delivery to facilitation, observation, and reflection. The mobility experience enhanced their confidence, strengthened cultural competence, and improved collaboration across centres. Peer learning sessions enabled teachers to co-create and test ideas, supporting one another’s development while embedding innovative and inclusive practices into everyday routines.
Impact and output
The project led to enhanced teaching practices, more inclusive planning, and stronger engagement with children’s individual needs. All 20 staff members benefited through the Train-the-Trainer model. Children experienced a more culturally responsive and stimulating learning environment. The inclusive and collaborative model introduced by the project is now embedded in the daily operations of our centres, fostering continuous reflection, shared learning, and consistent quality in early childhood education.
