In the ever-changing world of education, the European Innovative Teaching Award aims to value the work of teachers and educators in the process of shaping the Europeans of tomorrow by making use of innovative, interactive, and inclusive teaching and learning practices.
The 2026 edition theme “Skills for Life” celebrates Erasmus+ projects that help young children, pupils, VET learners and adults develop the basic skills they need to thrive in today’s world. Literacy, mathematics, science, digital and citizenship skills are at the heart of this year’s award-winning projects.

This project helped us discover that every child can learn to read and write successfully when we value their strengths and give them different ways to learn.
As a teacher, I was proud to see students grow in confidence, independence, and openness. They learned far more than facts about democracy – they experienced it in practice, built international friendships, improved their English, and developed critical thinking skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.
Digital tools changed the way I learn - maths became fun with GeoGebra and geography came alive in virtual reality!

The 2025 European Innovative Teaching Award celebrated Erasmus+ projects that empower learners to actively participate in democratic life, embrace common values, and engage in civic life through innovative teaching approaches.
In 2024, the European Innovative Teaching Award honours educators and schools whose projects successfully engage with enhancing wellbeing at school, in a whole-school approach perspective.
The thematic area chosen for 2023 edition was "Education and innovation", in close link with the European Year of Skills. Robotics, coding and programming, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, entrepreneurship were among the focus areas particularly accentuated.
The thematic area chosen for 2022 edition of the Award was linked to the New European Bauhaus (NEB) initiative of the European Commission: “Learning together, promoting creativity and sustainability”.
