I live and study in Europe

Summary

We are a small school located in a remote corner of Lithuania, committed to promoting professional education. Participation in the Erasmus+ programme has helped strengthen the competences of our students, teachers, and staff, while fostering innovation, inclusion, and international partnerships. It has also supported the education of environmentally conscious professionals and contributed to the promotion of European values in a rapidly changing society.

“We went to study and came back full of stories. Thank you Erasmus!”

Topic(s) addressed

  • Experiential learning in real workplaces (like Itakt and Austria.)
  • Integration of  digital technologies (OLS, etc.) to enhance communication
  • Development of international partnerships and activities

Target group(s)

  • 20 VET students (different profiles, including fewer opportunities)
  • 10 teachers

Methodologies used

Participants’ learning took place in real workplace settings, using interdisciplinary methods, individualised and personalised tasks, and integrating learning outcomes into the formal education system. A combination of formal, non-formal, and informal learning approaches was applied. Participants were actively engaged in the learning process and collaborated with external partners. Digital learning tools were also used, including remote meetings and the OLS platform, while green travel was encouraged and administrative processes were handled electronically. The experience gained has been successfully integrated into the centre’s activities and contributed to the project “Apprenticeship – a New Opportunity for Me!”.

Innovation environment

The innovative aspect of the project’s learning environment was shaped by hands-on learning experiences in authentic international workplaces in Austria, Italy, and Poland. Students - including those with fewer opportunities - benefited most from working directly with modern equipment and applying cutting-edge methods. These host companies served as living laboratories, where students not only enhanced their professional knowledge but also developed intercultural, linguistic, and problem-solving skills through direct communication with international colleagues. Thanks to strong mentorship and comprehensive support, each student was able to adapt successfully and realise their potential in a new, inclusive environment.

Teachers’ role

Teachers involved in the project are the driving force behind innovative teaching practices. They effectively apply learning methods that address real market needs and promote hands-on experience in international workplaces. Their role goes beyond instruction - they foster student well-being, particularly for those with fewer opportunities, by offering individualised support and creating a safe, inclusive learning environment. Through their participation in the project, teachers continuously enhance their own skills and competences - such as digital, intercultural, and linguistic abilities - serving as role models and effectively transmitting new knowledge to their students. Collaboration with international partners further enables them to exchange best practices and integrate the latest pedagogical approaches into their teaching.

Impact and output

The project activities had a significant impact on all participating groups. Students - including those with fewer opportunities - strengthened their professional, linguistic, and intercultural skills. Their motivation and autonomy increased, and they gained valuable real-world experience in international environments, enhancing their future employability. Teachers improved their pedagogical and digital competences, becoming leaders of innovation within their school communities. The school’s reputation grew, and connections with international partners were reinforced. The project’s success also inspired other students and colleagues to pursue international experiences, encouraging broader participation in European initiatives.
