Summary

Our project should be awarded the European Innovative Teaching Award (EITA) because it combines health, sustainability, and innovation in a holistic approach. It promotes well-being, student participation, and key competences, while strengthening teachers’ skills through training. Through European exchange aligned with Erasmus+, it fosters intercultural skills and future-ready learning.

“I truly believe this project transforms learning: empowering students, inspiring teachers, fostering wellbeing, innovation, and meaningful European connections for the future.”

Methodologies used

In our project, teaching and learning approaches are innovative as they go beyond traditional instruction and adopt a holistic, student-centred model. Movement, mindfulness, and sustainable nutrition are integrated into daily school life, linking learning with real-life skills and well-being. Students actively shape a sustainable school environment, becoming co-creators of their learning. Flexible formats and digital tools foster inclusion, collaboration, and media competence. Teacher training ensures high-quality implementation. European exchange, in line with Erasmus+, fosters intercultural learning and provides authentic experiences.

Innovation environment

In our project, learning environments support innovative teaching and learning by extending beyond the traditional classroom and creating flexible, student-centred spaces.

Movement and mindfulness are integrated into daily routines, fostering a positive and focused learning atmosphere. The school environment itself becomes a learning space where sustainability is actively practised and shaped by students. Additional learning groups focusing on healthy and sustainable nutrition provide opportunities for interest-based and experiential learning. Digital tools further enrich the environment by enabling interactive, collaborative, and media-supported learning processes.

Teachers’ role

Teachers play a key role in driving innovative teaching and learning processes within our project. They act as facilitators and role models by integrating movement, mindfulness, and sustainability into everyday teaching, thereby creating engaging and meaningful learning experiences. Through targeted expert-led professional development, teachers continuously expand their competences and apply new, student-centred methods in the classroom.

They encourage active participation, critical thinking, and collaboration, enabling students to become co-creators of their learning. Teachers also support the use of digital tools to strengthen media competence and foster interactive learning.

Impact and output

The innovative teaching and learning processes in our project have a strong and lasting impact on both students and the wider school community. Students benefit from improved well-being, concentration, and motivation through the integration of movement, mindfulness, and healthy lifestyles into daily learning. At the same time, they develop key competences such as critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and media literacy, which are essential for their future.

By actively involving students in shaping a sustainable school environment, the project fosters responsibility, engagement, and a sense of ownership. Teachers also benefit by enhancing their professional skills and adopting more effective, student-centred approaches.
