Summary

The ACT project focused on fostering active European citizenship. Through hands-on learning and collaborative activities, students deepened their understanding of European values. They strengthened their communication and digital skills, equipping them to participate more actively in democratic processes. The project also broadened their cultural perspectives, encouraging respectful and open-minded connections with peers from diverse backgrounds. Along the way, friendships were formed and students came to appreciate the value of a shared European identity.

"ACT empowered youth for active citizenship - uniting students across Europe to learn, lead & connect."

Methodologies used

The project successfully applied interdisciplinary approaches by integrating themes such as democracy, sustainability, and human rights into teaching. Teachers engaged in informal learning by sharing and learning from one another’s practices.

Students took an active role as creators, developing materials collaboratively for use in their respective countries. They also organised digital, student-led activities that involved around 250 participants.

The project prioritised inclusion, ensuring that all students could participate regardless of socio-economic background. Prior to implementation, expert lectures were held to prepare participants for the chosen topics. The overall focus was on developing key competences.

Innovation environment

The project fostered a supportive and innovative learning environment where students could learn from peers across different European countries. It promoted a positive school climate by building bridges between students from diverse cultural backgrounds - both across partner countries and within their own schools. Online activities, such as those carried out through eTwinning, served as a common thread throughout the project, strengthening collaboration and connection.

Teachers’ role

Teachers acted as guides, enabling the use of innovative teaching methods. Cross-border collaboration between educators was strong, fostering shared knowledge and joint learning. More experienced teachers offered guidance on managing Erasmus+ projects, creating valuable opportunities for all participants. Despite some challenges with digital platforms, the project was successfully carried out and completed through creative problem-solving.

Impact and output

The project had a direct and positive impact on students’ knowledge and skills related to European citizenship. It actively included students with fewer opportunities, ensuring their full participation in project activities. A tangible spillover effect was observed, as students shared their experiences and learning with peers both within the project and in their own schools. The project’s visibility and outreach were further supported through its website, Instagram page, and videos shared on YouTube.
