Accredited project for mobility of learners and staff in school education
Accredited project for mobility of learners and staff in school education

Summary

A wide range of Erasmus+ activities has helped to modernise and internationalise language learning at our school. Digital and physical exchange projects have fostered authentic communication, intercultural competence, and multilingualism.

Students have used foreign languages in real-life situations, even outside the classroom. Teachers have integrated innovative methods and strengthened linguistic diversity in everyday school life.

"Languages are key to understanding, solidarity, and cooperation. We want to teach them in a lively way, build contacts, and create collaborative projects. Erasmus+ offers opportunities, and the Language Label confirms our successful path."

Methodologies used

Project work, exchanges with peers across Europe, and exposure to other cultures motivated young people by showing them that language is a vibrant form of communication beyond the classroom. Their own ideas, creativity, and collaborative work further strengthened this motivation. Through international exchange, teachers broadened their perspectives and now integrate greater linguistic and methodological diversity. Students were encouraged to create and share their own media content (e.g. podcasts, Padlets, blogs) in the foreign language and to present their work in online meetings. This also gave them the opportunity to experiment with new digital tools.

Innovation environment

In both physical and virtual collaborations, students tested new digital tools and gained valuable experience in international cooperation. Language learning became more interactive, authentic, and interdisciplinary. They created their own media content in the foreign language, presented it in online meetings, and communicated with partners in a variety of contexts. Depending on their language level, they applied their skills to argue, present, explain positions, reach agreements, and make joint decisions.

Teachers’ role

Six teachers took part in an international training course on inclusion and intercultural dialogue. Most regarded the mobility activity as an opportunity to deepen their understanding of cultural diversity. The exchange with European colleagues proved particularly enriching. Multilingualism was experienced in an international context, and awareness of cultural differences was further strengthened. In addition, participants gained valuable experience in networking and in initiating new international projects.

Impact and output

The positive impact of Erasmus+ experiences is clearly visible: in 2024/25, four colleagues, including our administrator, took part in mobility programmes. Participation is interdisciplinary, and reports are regularly shared among staff. New partner schools provide opportunities for long-term exchanges, enabling students to use languages in practical contexts and to build lasting friendships. Interest in Italian has grown significantly, and multilingualism was prominently celebrated on the European Day of Languages. Participation in foreign language competitions and receiving international certificates reflect a high level of achievement. The exchange project with Bosnia, together with a wide range of related activities, continues to enrich everyday school life and to transform foreign language instruction from traditional teaching towards project-based learning.
