Accredited project for mobility of learners and staff in school education

Summary

The project was awarded for promoting multilingualism, intercultural understanding, and inclusive language learning, particularly for migrant students and those with fewer opportunities. Through Erasmus+ mobility, eTwinning, and real-world projects, students and teachers engaged with multiple languages in authentic contexts while strengthening their digital and transversal skills. The project also fostered strong partnerships and collaboration among European schools.

"This experience changed the way I teach. I am now more open to new methods, digital tools, and cooperation. Working with colleagues from other countries inspired me to use languages more actively and try multilingual activities in my classroom."

Methodologies used

The project used innovative, student-centred methods such as project-based learning, gamification, flipped classroom, cooperative learning, and blended learning. Language use was integrated into interdisciplinary tasks and real-life situations. Students communicated in multiple languages with peers abroad and during public presentations. Both students and teachers developed key competences such as communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking. They worked with international partners on onsite and online projects that provided authentic learning experiences. Digital tools supported formative assessment, content creation, and collaboration. Learning combined formal and informal education, promoting inclusion and peer mentoring.

Innovation environment

The school fostered a culture of innovation and multilingualism through Erasmus+ and eTwinning projects such as Chocolate – to Eat or Not to Eat, AI in the Classroom, and Toward a Well-being Mindset. The @visejezicnostussbjj initiative promoted language use across subjects and throughout school life. Activities like Speak Dating gave students opportunities to teach and learn languages in real-life contexts. Digital platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Edutorij) were used to showcase work and connect with peers. Collaboration with local kindergartens, schools, and universities, as well as international partners, strengthened the school’s role as a hub for inclusive and creative language learning.

Teachers’ role

Teachers played a central role in driving innovation and acted as language learning facilitators, content creators, and cultural mediators. They promoted intercultural dialogue and inclusion, mentored colleagues, and supported migrant students and those with fewer opportunities. They led interdisciplinary projects, applied innovative methods, and integrated multilingualism into the curriculum. Teachers collaborated with national and international partners, engaged in training, and shared good practices through webinars, e-books, and workshops. Several were awarded the title “Excellent Advisor,” becoming role models for educational innovation in Croatia and beyond.

Impact and output

The project significantly improved students' motivation and confidence in using languages in authentic situations. Teachers adopted more inclusive, student-centred approaches, leading to better engagement and learning outcomes. Outputs include an open-access e-book with multilingual teaching scenarios, student-created digital materials, and wide dissemination through webinars, conferences, and professional networks, as well as strong community partnerships. Local and international visibility increased, and the school's model has been replicated by other schools in the region. Interest in optional language classes and international projects also grew among both students and staff.
